Treatments for Anxiety
Treating anxiety is simpler than you would imagine and can
often produce fast and dramatic results. Even severe anxiety
can be overcome with treatment but please be aware that
there is no overnight miracle cure. If there was, you’d have
heard of it and you wouldn’t be reading this!
There are several different types of medication that are
commonly used for treating anxiety. I won’t name them here
as the tablets will have different names depending on what
part of the world you live in.
The tranquilizing anti-anxiety drugs are fairly safe when
taken in small doses or not very often. However, when taken
over longer periods of time or when combined with other
substances, there can be serious problems. There is also the
risk of some people having an adverse reaction to them.
As with all medication, there may be side effects, some even
dangerous, and there may also be the risk of addiction. So
don’t go this route lightly without fully understanding all
the alternatives available.
Medication can be helpful in the short term to help you
through a very difficult period with anxiety but it is not
the answer long term.
As anxiety is caused at a subconscious level, medication
won’t deal with the real root of the problem. So it is your
mind, rather than the pill pot, which you must turn your
attentions to when you want to start on the road to
recovery. For most people, treating anxiety naturally is the
best way to ensure recovery.
There are all sorts of things that you can try for helping
with your anxiety. These include:
-
Improving your diet
-
Aromatherapy Oils
-
Herbal Treatment
-
Exercise
-
Relaxation
-
Hypnosis or Self Hypnosis
-
Visualisation
-
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
-
and
many more
Any of
these things are worth a try and of course each individual
will differ in how helpful they find these suggestions.
In my
opinion (and also from my own personal experience as an
anxiety sufferer) self help is the only really effective way
to move on in your life and be free from anxiety.
It is
easy to make small improvements to your life on a daily
basis which will gradually add up to a new way of thinking
and living. It is these small steps that will take you along
the road to recovery.
Everything that you need to overcome your anxiety is within
you. You just have to learn how to get your body on your
side and for it to stop behaving like your enemy.
